The tours make use of a variety of different comfortable private passenger trains: the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express, the Siberian Tiger Private Train, the Tsar's Gold Private Train, the Danube Express, and the Shangri-La Express. In addition, trips to Lhasa also employ the regularly scheduled high-altitude train for the daytime segment between Golmud and Lhasa.
Accommodation styles vary among trains. The Shangri-La Express is utilized on tour itineraries within China. Tours operating in Russia, Mongolia and Central Asia employ the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express or the Tsar's Gold private trains. Train formations are not fixed, as the composition varies to suit the number of passengers on a given departure. Group sizes can range from 40 to 100 or more passengers from around the world depending upon the train. The exact configuration of train(s) employed on any particular journey may not be determined until close to departure.
